Format:  Hardcover

Rating: (1-5, 5 is a starred review) 5

Genre:  Picture book

What did you like about the book? On the front cover the words, “a picture book for toddlers” is printed and that is exactly what this book is. It is an oversized book that illustrates 1000 animals and labels them. The book is divided into animals in different environments, the lives of animals and amazing animals. The pages are laminated which makes this a very child friendly book. Children can spend hours looking at common as well as very obscure animals. I especially liked the category of “unbelievable outfits” that highlighted the unusual markings of some animals.

Anything you didn’t like about it? I liked everything about the book

To Whom Would You Recommend this book? This is a must-have book for any ESL classroom or school library. Children ages 3-10 will love the book.

Who should buy this book? all libraries

Where would you shelve it ? Children’s Books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles?  Yes

Reviewer’s Name, Library (or school), City and State: Sandra Pacheco, ESL teacher, Washington, D.C.
