51gpeqokw3l     Anna & Froga: Out and About – Anouk Ricard, translated by Helge Dascher, Enfant (Drawn & Quarterly), (9781770462403), 2016.

Format: Hardcover

Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 5

Genre: Graphic novel

What did you like about the book? Anna & Froga was originally published in French but this translation works very well. Anna is a little girl who has Froga, a frog, Bubu, a dog, a cat and other animals as friends. All the animals wear clothes and talk like people. There are seven stories here and all are funny and wonderfully done.  The friendship between all the characters is realistic and heartwarming.  I’m glad this was published in English!

Anything you didn’t like about it? I liked it completely!

To whom would you recommend this book? The illustrations are reminiscent of Richard Scarry but not so busy. Give this to young readers of Geoffrey Hayes’ Benny and Penny books. There are also four other books with the adventures of Anna and Froga – so look for them!

Who should buy this book? Public and elementary school libraries

Where would you shelve it? Juvenile graphic novels

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Put in the middle or nearer the top of your graphic novel pile.
