Rating: (1-5 5 is a starred review) 5
Genre: Picture book
What did you like about the book? This book sets itself apart from the others initially with the padded book cover. The picture of the baby elephant balancing on the trunk of its mother also invites you to pick the book up. Inside, the reader is not disappointed. Little Why is an elephant who just wants to have a special look (long legs of the giraffe, fancy feathers or a snippy snappy snout). His mother tells him to stay in line as they walk. Eventually she shows him how special he is. It’s a short, endearing book that children will love.
Anything you didn’t like about it? I liked everything about this book.
To Whom Would You Recommend this book? Preschool children, young toddlers will love this book. The illustrations are clear so young children can recognize the animals. It’s also perfect for children who always ask “why?”
Who should buy this book? all libraries
Where would you shelve it ? Children’s Books
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? yes
