What did you like about the book? This is the third book in a fantasy trilogy set in ancient China. Pinmei lives with her grandmother, Amah, who is a storyteller. When the emperor and his soldiers capture Amah, shy, quiet Pinmei joins her young neighbor, Yishan, to go and find her. Both Pinmei and Amah tell many stories within the story as the two children seek to find Amah. The beautiful, lyrical voice of Kim Mai Guest narrates the mesmerizing tale.

Anything you didn’t like about it? No.

To whom would you recommend this book? Give this to those who like ancient fairy tales and to those who have read the first two stories in the trilogy, Starry River of the Sky and When the Mountain Meets the Moon.

Who should buy this book? All public and elementary school libraries.

Where would you shelve it? Juvenile audiobooks

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes.
