What did you like about the book? This baby book welcomes a new baby into the world.  A Chinese couple welcomes a baby with sentences such as “And through you we are born again.” Each page shows the mother and father with the baby and each page has a gentle message telling the baby how grateful they are that the baby has chosen them. This is a wonderful reminder of the gifts that a child gives his parents. Rather than the focus being on what the parents can do for the child, it is on how much the child has given the parents.  I also liked the fact that the child was not white, making the story accessible to a broader audience.

Anything you didn’t like about it? I liked everything about the book, especially the peaceful tone of the book.

To Whom Would You Recommend this book? This is a board book that parents of newborns will love, especially if they want to find a book that is multi-cultural.

Who should buy this book? all libraries

Where would you shelve it ? Children’s Books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles?  yes
