Rating: (1-5 5 is a starred review) 4
Genre: Picture book
What did you like about the book? This is a large touch and feel mystery book. The touch and feel part is a red hat that appears in the forest. Hedgehog and his friends have heard loud noises in the forest. They try to find out who or what is making the sounds and only catch glimpses of the red hat that Hedgehog owns. The mystery continues with the red hat appearing and the noises persisting. Hedgehog insists that he isn’t the one in the forest making the noises, but until a group of beavers wearing red hats save the day at the end of the book, no one believes Hedgehog. I especially liked how the red hats appeared and how the animals all banded together to avert a disaster. I also liked how the only touch and feel aspect of the book was the bright red winter cap.
Anything you didn’t like about it? I liked everything about the book.
To Whom Would You Recommend this book? The touch and feel part will appeal to very young children, but the story itself if geared to older children, ages 3-6
