What did you like about the book? This is a beautiful counting book that counts from 1 – 20. Each double page spread features the numeral in bold text with an illustration featuring wildlife corresponding in number and alliteration. We begin with 1 owl, 2 turtles, 3 thistles and so on up to 18 eggs, 19 nuts and 20 toes. The illustrations are reminiscent of woodcuts with splashes of watercolor to brighten each page. In addition to learning to count and discovering the alliteration, readers are also encouraged to find sixteen hidden items which include “A heart-shaped stone” and “Two lady bugs.” This is a lovely addition to concept books and a nice companion to A B C Dream.
