Format: Board book

Rating: (1-5) 4

Genre:  Picture book

What did you like about the book? How much of the alphabet can you eat? This is a small board book that is filled with pictures of food that correspond to the alphabet. As a beginning concept book, it teaches children vocabulary along with letters. It shows both upper and lower case letters and the words of the vegetables and fruit are also written in both upper and lower case. This would be good for a beginning reader who learns to read using lower case letters.

Anything you didn’t like about it? The fruit and vegetables are somewhat stylized so they might not be familiar to children through these illustrations.

To whom would you recommend this book?  This is great for ESL students. It’s also great for beginning readers. The book says it is recommended for ages 6 months to 3 years.

Who should buy this book? All libraries

Where would you shelve it ? Children’s books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes

Reviewer’s Name, Library (or school), City and State: Sandra Pacheco, ESL teacher, Gardner, MA
