What did you like about the book? Grady is trying to come out as the boy he’s always been.  But some who know (or even claim to love) him cannot get past the idea that he “used to be Angela”.  While moving from homeschooling to a public school and realizing that on top of being part of the “Family With All The Crazy Christmas Decorations” he also has to cope with a former best friend who refuses to hang out, trying to convince students (and staff) at his new school that this is a normal thing and NOT a huge deal, and the (thankfully short) family disruption that his coming out causes.  When all Grady REALLY wants to do is find love, have friends, and live life….and maybe STOP the annual Christmas Decorating madness his dad seems obsessed with.  This was a really good transgender coming out story with a really cute Christmas story woven into it; perfect for the coming season!

Anything you didn’t like about it?  Nope!

To whom would you recommend this book? This is a good choice for any book group discussion on transgender experiences or for anyone looking for a cute Christmas plot woven into a solid story of transgender coming out during high school.

Who should buy this book? Public libraries and high schools

Where would you shelve it? YA Realistic Fiction

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? No
