What did you like about the book? In 1949, sixth-grader Ivy finds herself at a dude ranch caring for various animals.  Her love for animals and her knowledge of them increases with each new creature she meets. The story is easy to relate to and should be enjoyed by animal lovers.

What didn’t you like about the book? Some elements of the story seem unrealistic.

To whom would you recommend this book?  Readers of Jessie Haas or animal series books such as Animal Ark.

Who should buy this book? Middle and elementary schools, public libraries

Where would you shelve it and why? Elementary fiction

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles?  No.
