What did you like about the book? In 1855 London, 14 year-old Abi is forced to work as a scullery maid in what appears to be a haunted mansion where she comes to believe that her mother was murdered.  Her attempts to escape fail.  The suspense is tangible as is the ghostly, gothic atmosphere.  A quick, riveting read.
