Cheesie Mack Is Cool in a Duel by Steve Cotler

Cheesie Mack Is Cool in a Duel, Steve Cotler, Random House, 2012

Format: Hardcover

Rating: 1-5 (5 is excellent or a Starred review)  5

 Genre:  Fiction

What did you like about the book? This series keeps getting better!  Cheesie Mack is a 5h grader who is headed off to summer camp.  When he and his best friend end up in the Big Guys cabin with his sister’s boyfriend Steve it seems that the summer is ruined.  Soon Cheesie and Steve are embroiled in a Cool Duel where there is a vote each day as to which does the coolest thing.  Does Cheesie stand a chance?  This book is hilariously funny!  There is also an interactive aspect to the series, where one can go online to cheesiemack.com and answer questions, give opinions, or just get more info.  The best thing is that Cheesie will actually answer back!  I eagerly await the next book due in 2013!

What didn’t you like about the book? Nothing

To whom would you recommend this book?  I would hand this book to fans of the Wimpy Kid and Big Nate series.  Although there are less pictures in Cheesie Mack, readers will love the humor!  This is a great series for4th, 5th and 6th grade readers, especially any reluctant readers.

Who should buy this book? Public and elementary school libraries

Where would you shelve it and why?  Fiction

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles?   Yes, if you want a really funny book, with a great ending!!!
